By acquiring the operations of an existing factory in Bahir Dar, garment manufacturing was resumed in the Amhara region of Ethiopia under new investors, Libela Garments Ltd.
The new owners and management come from an extensive background in manufacturing for the largest global retailers and brands and the mission is to offer quality products at competitive prices with engagement and support of the local community in a sustainable manner.
Managing Director, Tony Corlett, started his career in manufacturing in South Africa where he operated his own factories for making t-shirts for the African market. He then moved on to becoming Sourcing Executive for Karstadt, Tesco and 10 years running PEPCO (PEP Group) souring efforts out of Shanghai (5,900 stores globally).
Planning & Merchandising Manager, Altaf Karim, began his journey in manufacturing during the pioneering years of the Bangladeshi garment industry. He moved in to planning and merchandising in subsequent roles and his previous employment was as head of planning and manufacturing for a leading global manufacturer of lingerie in Bangladesh, covering 6 factories and close to 30,000 employees and a daily output of 400.000pc.
Production Manager, Henock Gashaw , began his career in Hawassa industrial park, Ethiopia, as an Industrial Engineer, He now runs our production in Bahar Dar, Ethiopia, with a possible capacity of 104 production lines.
Quality Control, Tawhidul Haque, is a highly qualified QC Manager with numerous approvals and certificates from global brands. With his know-how and expertise we are able to approve any sample on the factory floor.
Sales & Marketing Director, Stefan Strandlund, with 25 years in garment manufacturing and sourcing and a vast network of retail connections he looks after our sales and marketing activities. He began his career as CFO for a large garment manufacturer but soon found himself involved in expansion projects. The initial project was to establish a factory in Bangladesh (2000) and then worked on the company’s global expansion before returning to China / Bangladesh in a Production capacity.

The production shed is made up of a cutting section where all orders are cut and then put in a line-feeding system for quick and easy line replenishment to the 52 lines (single shift). of manufacturing with end-line packing. The lines are set up to produce outer and innerwear knit garments. In addition to the production lines there are samples lines, QC & QA departments, IE department, Design, Pattern makers and a qc line to ensure a smooth change-over for new styles, minimizing downtime and quality issues.
